my youth team manager wants 92,000 for a player of level 8 and skill 33. obviously i want a player of that level but is that a ridiculous price to pay or is that normal when buying from the youth team?

That is normal. Player that young will grow overtime and bring you 2X or even 3X in no time if you sell him.
